They presented the Spear concept, a trimaran yacht 140 meters long. A new collaboration between T. Fotiadis Design & Lateral Naval Architects.
With her impressively streamlined design, Spear combines efficiency, comfort and wide open spaces to create an unparalleled cruising experience.
It is called Spear and has a sharp silhouette that will make it impressive and more hydrodynamic in the sea.
They chose the trimaran design rather than a monohull for greater stability, larger spaces and fuel savings.
To compare the likes of the Spear, with a length of 140 meters and 4650 GT, and a keel of 23 meters on a suitable baseline, Lateral uses the example of a monohull of 110 meters and 4400 GT. At a cruising speed of 18 knots, the trimaran's propulsive power needs are 20% lower than the 110m monohull, making the Spear's power demand equivalent to that of an 80m monohull, with twice the useful surface area.
Taking advantage of the larger dimensions, the Spear offers a medium-speed engine at the core of the power architecture, often found on large commercial ships, providing an additional 15% fuel savings per kW compared to a typical yacht's high-speed engine.
With reduced fuel requirements and plenty of available tank volume, this concept comfortably achieves a range in excess of 7,500 nautical miles, establishing the Spear as a true global adventure vessel.
And the sponsons are specifically designed for generous tank volumes that are planned for the inclusion of alternative fuels in the future, namely methanol.

Designed to maximize outdoor living space, the yacht boasts expansive sun decks, alfresco dining areas, and luxurious lounging areas where guests can bask in the sun or unwind in the shade. The beach club also benefits from unfolding bulwarks that increase the space further.
